Hello, my name is Kayla Benson. I have been drawing since I was little, however only started drawing daily within the past five years. I became involved with the performing arts in elementary school, and my interests in music lead me to discover the other forms of visual arts such as drawing and painting. In my first year of high school, I wanted to take an art class, however due to scheduling mistakes I was unable to take an art course until my junior year. I was involved in art clubs before and after I was able to take an art class. Within these clubs I worked on murals for my school and was eventually asked to paint my senior class superlatives mural. During my high school career, my work was given the chance to be displayed not only in my school art show, but district art shows as well. I love children's books, my favorite being The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster and Illustrated by Jules Feiffer. Because of my love for books, I plan to major in illustration. My art is mainly inspired by nature and animals. I like to create a story with my art, so that viewer’s imaginations can engage in the viewing.
